Ideas and Tips for your:
Embellishments

Here below is the project that we were asked to create for the "Simply Renee" featured Manufacturer. Simply Renee make those absolutely fantastic one or two tiered clip it up storage solutions (pictured below). I keep mine empty but when I am working on something I will use it to organise the products I will be chosing from for that particular assignment. Our delightful little American princess, not to mention that she is extremely talented, Natasha Narango-Aguire once wrote that her children loved to clip everything back up for her when she was done working, and that alone sold me ;) And you know what, they really do ;) ;)

I have created a double door 12 x 12 inch frame, using the 8 x 8 inch box frame for the inside. It represents the view from my home studio, which is the front garden.

Then on the outside French Doors I have placed photos of my work spaces etc.

I have used the newly released Door Handle Plates DA#0681 and the Fancy Letterbox #2 DA#0608 which are my favorites for the moment, amongst the following list of gorgeous Dusty Attic products:-

Corner Scrolls (large and small) DA#
Ornate Gates (medium) DA#0188
ATC Frame - chipboard (altered) DA#0663
Shadow Box Insert 8 x 8 DA#0512
Birdbath 2pk(small and large) DA#0395

The Dusty Attic have some special storage products of their very own, being the above photographed mini Spritz Bottles DA#0610. They are such a cute size and just perfect for covering one larger piece of chipboard. I have squeezed some paint in firstly then topped up with water.

I would suggest that you give them a wash with detergent once empty and spray the nozzles clear with same.

Ideas and Tips for your:
Sewing Machine

This month I wanted to share a sentimental idea, that I love.  My mother crocheted this wonderful cover for my sewing machine, to ensure that the dust doesn't get in there for one and secondly I simply adore the look of crochet and how cute is it to have it as a sewing machine cover?!?  I love it...

Ideas and Tips for your:
Laptop
I would like to share a little tip ,that I really appreciated, from our darling Mistra Hoolahan.

Keyboard and Mouse
Now, it may be sounding too simple, but really it makes such a difference to how I work!  I was always carrying my laptop from chair to chair and table to table (which you are supposed to do) but I have found that I can no longer sit at the main computer as all of my files are on the laptop!  While Mistra was visiting one day she suggested to buy a keyboard and mouse, and it is blilliant!

Height
T hen next my neck was hurting from looking down constantly, so I have put it on top of a beautiful old suitcase that I love and it is at the "perfect" height.  That little tip of course didn't cost any money, so that felt quite clever of me.

I find that more often now I am sitting at the computer whereas before I would only go there to check emails occasionally and print photos, but now it seems my whole world revolves around the computer.  I am not too sure if I like it yet!!!  But nevertheless I hope that I may have given someone else a little bit of good advice, just to be nice, like someone has in turn done for me!!!

Above are my storage trolleys for the 12 x 12 (accomodating) sized plastic boxes.  I purchased these from a store called K.Mart which is the equivallent of say Target in America.

I use the 12 x 12 boxes for either a particular project or theme of papers i.e. Christmas.

I use the top 6 smaller boxes for Lace, Chipboard, Cotton etc. For these I put the lids on the bottom of the boxes so when I slide them out they are an open drawer.

If I want to work on a particular project/album I can easily take the box with me to a store and have all that I have collected to use at hand.

The name labels I have created in a word document and printed onto patterned paper.  I have also made an extra label on some of the boxes on the side if I have something inside the box that I particulary want to remember.  This is an added benefit for those who are a bit forgetful.

I like the fact that you can see only a little, what is inside the box, having its own benefit but still keeping the units uniform in colour.

These boxes are possibly my most practical storage solution and I find them so incredibly useful in organising my supplies.  I am considering using them for other things now like adhesive storage etc. as they are just so neat and tidy!!!

Storage Tutorial No. 3

I have chosen to talk about ribbon storage for my tutorial this month.  I find having ribbons in the house useful for many things, not only to create but for the girls hair and also gift wrapping.

Having the ribbons in an easily accesible place entices us to use them more frequently.  They are simply hung on rings that open and close on a hook at the end of my bookshelf.

You will notice that they are stapled onto black cardstock pieces that have a hole punched in them.  You may or may not notice that they are also colour coded or sorted into colours.  That makes them easy to take along with you if you are heading out and working on a particular project.

Again I love that they are easily assessible and as an added extra, kind of obsessive compulsive tip, it looks fantastic when the girls wear a ribbon in their hair that I later make a page on and use the same ribbon on that page!!!

I think they look very pretty in my studio displayed this way and they make me feel happy.

Ideas and Tips for:
Flower Storage

Do you want to know how to store your flowers like the best of them all?  By the best I am referring to “Prima” flowers, as in my opinion, they are definitely the best!!! The glass jars are just divine to look at and I have definitely taken a leaf out of their book with my storage and use their original jars also.

Colour Co-ordinating
Naturally it makes a lot of sense to store your flowers in colours, as when you need a particular colour you can go to all the different shades and simply chose the desired combination.

Sizes
T here would be the option of storing in sizes, which I have not chosen to do, but it is really what works best for you.

Setting Aside
If you love a particular flower, and work on more than one project at a time, like I do, it is a good idea to keep the packet of flowers with the project you are working on.  Otherwise you may find yourself looking for a particular size or shade etc of the same group of flowers and if you have used it on another project it is not so much fun if you cannot purchase the flowers any longer.

Eye Candy!
You will notice that there is also a small amount of candy (with wrappers) mixed in with my flowers…If you chose a pretty colour (that matches) it will give you a lot more joy and visual stimulation!!! That is my theory and I am sticking to it, as if you tell me I can’t have a lolly, you may as well cut my arm off as it would hurt less…
Enjoy!!!

Ideas and Tips for:
Die Cutting Machine -Storage

How to store your different die cutting tools and Machine?

Main Machine
Nice and easy to access is always my first priority.  Otherwise I just feel I don’t use the items nearly as much, which makes for a less interesting project!

Sizes
S ort everything into smaller groups of items. And store them in drawers but also in separate containers.

Some for travel
If you love a particular die cut, I would suggest to keep it in your tote.

Decorate the top!
You could have some fun decorating the top and enclosing the artwork under some plastic with a simple A4 plastic sleeve for protection.

About Me - Concise Biography

My photo
My work history is varied and diverse. From the high profile studios of NWS Channel 9, to the exciting aviation industry, I have a resume' with an extensive list of skills and experience. I reside in sunny Australia. The main purpose of this blog was that it was started out of necessity but has grown into something I enjoy. “To Do What You Love, and Feel That It Matters, What Could Be More Fun?”. I believe this particular industry promotes self esteem in many, whilst being part of a Design Team helps businesses and friends but most of all I love all the fantastic messages that one can give to another through this avenue. It assists me in my endeavour to leave the world a better place… (and as Barbie would say at the beauty pageant "and I wish for world peace";) Hoping that you find some inspiration from my work!
